A few moons back I was traveling USA in an old ’65 Mustang GT and stayed at Amangiri, one of three Aman hotels I’ve stayed in this year (Aman Tokyo and Aman Venice were the others) and this one is in the middle of Utah’s beautiful desert near the Grand Canyon.
Day trips to landmarks like Horseshoe Bend, Antelope Canyon or Monument Valley are a must as well as the delicious food at the hotel. Not to mention the hotel concept is the perfect merging of land, nature, culture and architecture. Will come back for sure!
More of the whole road trip soon here…

“Make memories” – that’s what they say. And oh boy we did.
But let’s start from the beginning….
1 super sports car aka the Porsche 911 GT3RS, 4 bags and 1 straw hat as big as an umbrella (and several other hats but let’s talk about something else).
 _____
Stage 1
Berlin Germany to Montreux Switzerland with a short stop in my hometown in Bavaria. 1151km. That’s manageable in two days and driving out the car on the German Autobahn was probably the most fun (check my IG stories)
 _____
 _____

Stage 2

Montreux Switzerland to Nice in France. Aka the Route des Grandes Alpes. And it really was grandes. Over 14 alpine passes and one of the most beautiful routes in the world. We planned in 3 days for the crossing of the alps and those 3 days were pure magic. The high alps scenery, changing autumn colours, the car itself and how it performs in such circumstances and all the other likeminded car enthusiasts we met on our way down to the South of France…
 _____
 _____

Stage 3

Relaxing time at the Cote d’Azur. First days we stayed at the Hotel du Cap-Eden-Rock where once Marlene Dietrich and Romy Schneider sipped cocktails at the famous pool by the see. Book a table in the near the sea in the hotel restaurant when the sun goes down (and try the beetroot cooked in rye bread with thyme crust). The other days we spent at the super hyped Les Roches Rouges Hotel and it really is one of a kind. Nestled in one of the coves near Saint Tropez this hotel has everything the modern travel hipster needs. Vintage De Sede sofa, light and breezy interior, friendly staff and live music in the evening (but the good kind).
PS book early as the hotel rooms sell out as fast as buttery croissants right after fashion week in Paris.
 _____
 _____
Stage 4
South of France to Venice in Italy. The route itself is quite boring (speed limits in whole Italy and no curvy alpine streets) but when we arrived in Venice, parked our baby and the friendly staff of the Aman hotel picked us up in a 30 year old vintage boat I almost couldn’t believe my eyes.
Venice is like out of a movie. The colours, the architecture and of course the food. The Aman hotel itself (George Clooney married his Amal here and now I know why) is one of a kind. Built 1560 and restored a few years ago they tried to keep everything original (hello frescoes, Murano chandeliers and hundreds of years old wooden floors) and added some modern interior. The view over the Canale Grande is priceless itself.
The next days were all about pizza, pasta, vino rosso and the typical must sees in Venice and we also took a boat tour to Burano to see how they make the world famous glass sculptures.
PS try the honey melon salad in the Aman garden restaurant just next to the Canale Grande and listen to the gondoliers sing ‘O sole mio’ while sipping a glass of red.
 _____
 _____
Stage 5
Venice Italy to Munich and back to Berlin. Well this was nervwrecking. I’m from Munich so I know the legendary route from Laggo di Garda to Munich very well and it was no fun kiddos. Speed limits and traffic that had almost LA rush hour quality.
But well, we turned up the music and arrived in my old hometown just in time for dinner (best burger ww I swear). After a good night sleep we got up early to drive the last stage back to Berlin. Did you know the GT3RS is originally made to go on the race track? Now I know why. 319km/m somewhere near Munich.
Just a little bit slower than Sebastian Vettel on a good day trying to beat Lewis Hamilton.
Back in Germanys capital city the baby is safely parked in our garage and ready for the next trip coming year. Skandinavia? Toscana?
Let’s see…

Tokyo WOW! What a city! The fifth and last stop of the Chloé Nomade world tour. And the city with my favourite style (minimal with a twist) and extraordinary food haha.
_____
The first few days with Chloé I stayed at Trunk Hotel in Shibuya one of the hippest hotels I’ve ever stayed in. Grab a drink at the bar and listen to the sound of the live DJ’s that change daily. The hotel is surrounded by cool shops and restaurants and in walking distance to the famous Shibuya crossing.
The days after the Chloé project I stayed at the Aman Tokyo hotel which has an incredible view over the city from the over 200m high corner suite. Book a table at their restaurant to dine with a view over Tokyo and if you are lucky you can even see Mt Fuji far away. All the Aman hotels are just another level! Interior, service, everything on point.
_____
I met Lauren, model, TV superstar and first of all illustrator at the super traditional restaurant GalaliI青山本店. After lunch we walked the narrow streets of Shibuya, grabbed a coffee at one of those cute little cafés and headed to to first shooting location the Yoyogi-Koen Park, one of Tokyos largest city parks. Make sure to go there during cherry blossom season!
After a traditional tea tasting at Sakurai in the afternoon we decided to call it a day.
The next day was all about the helicopter flight over Tokyo and delish lunch at Eatrip where Lauren told me all about her life in Tokyo.
I took the next days off to explore Tokyo before I had to leave this inspiring city.

Mija’s must visit Tokyo restaurants, bars & cafés: Cat Cafe Mocha, Chop Coffee, Streamer Coffee Company, Coffeehouse Nishiya, From Afar, Kuriya Kashi Kurogi, Kiki Harajuku, Park Hyatt bar (the view is insane – come a bit earlier and book a table near the windows in the restaurant if you wanna grab dinner first)
_____
_____
Mija’s must visit when in Tokyo: Ginza area for luxury shopping, Shibuya area for small shops, narrow streets, fashion stores, Purikura photo booth, Senso-ji temple, Meiji-temple, Tokyo Skytree, Ryoguku Sumo fight, Tokyo national museum, Shibuya crossing
___
_____
Travel tips: Don’t visit Tokyo between June and August. 34 degree celsius and over 85% humidity is no joke kiddos. Take taxis – Uber is more expensive and not very popular. If you have the chance take a train and visit the country side. You’ll need internet – buy a sim card at the airport or ask your provider for options.
